This series is a collaboration with local photographer Emilie Soler (on Instagram @lapetitegrangecachee).
These paintings and drawings interpret her photos of the region and tell the story of a restored stone barn and the cozy, quiet moments of nature and nurturing it offers.
They welcome you into the charm and tranquility of country life.
Emilie and I met and talked about creating and how much we love the Dordogne region—the slower lifestyle and the magic of the countryside.
Through visiting the Little Hidden Barn and exploring her photos, a theme emerged.
Nourishment—and spaces that help us rest and revitalize. I created eight original pieces. Two drawing collections of the Barn—its cozy interiors and dreamy garden—and two abstract paintings that share the colors and feeling of each space. They capture the idea of spaces we retreat to center ourselves and places we go to open up in nature. Then I did two more pairs inspired by the landscapes around the Barn—a village view and a shot of heirloom roses on a stone wall. They symbolize adventure and discoveries—more things we need to fill our cup.
I hope this series brings you some peace and pleasure along with a glimpse of life in the Dordogne countryside.
Get a little piece of cozy joy to hang on your wall and nourish you.
